Steveston’s Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is about to be invade by, “watery ghosts, sea monsters, and twisted tentacles among the darkened aisles of the historical Herring Reduction Plant,” according to Mimi Horita, marketing and visitor services manager for the museum.

In addition to the spooky fun offered by local actors in costume and the Blanche MacDonald Centre’s ghoulish make-up, visitors can expect under-the-sea and Hallowe’en games, crafts, and activities.

All this ghoulish fun takes place on two days only, Saturday and Sunday Oct. 27 and 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cannery Museum, 12138 Fourth Avenue at Moncton, Richmond.

For those who want to be a more frightened, the cannery museum offers, according to Horita, “An extra-haunted experience option for those who can bear to be scared!”

“This year’s ‘haunted sea’ theme takes on a special meaning as most of the decorations and costumes will be crafted out of salvaged materials including recycled plastics, saving waste from entering our landfills and oceans,” Horita says.

So, mark your calendars if you look forward to an imaginary dive to the darkest depths of The Haunted Sea at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site on a journey into the deep made wonderfully ghoulish by a host of characters.

All ages welcome. Children must bring an adult with them. Costumes are optional and remember, recycled is best!

Hours: Open daily, year round from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Special Event Admission: Adults $11, Seniors $9, Youth (6-17) $7
